About

The La Línea Guide is written from La Línea de la Concepción — the Spanish town five minutes’ walk from the Gibraltar border. It exists because the existing English-language guides to La Línea were either tourist-cliche reposts of the same five facts, or thinly-disguised business listings for estate agents and tour operators.

The aim is unsexy: information you can act on. The NIE post tells you which queue, which paperwork, which day of the week. The beach post tells you where the cleaner sand is. The food post tells you where the fish was caught the morning of.

Who writes this

One person — Romanian by origin, resident in Andalusia, working cross-border in Gibraltar by day. Writing in English because that’s the gap in coverage of this place. Spanish-language and Gibraltarian-English coverage exists in quantity. English-language coverage that isn’t tourist-listicle is rare.

The author isn’t from La Línea. The frame is “settler with practical questions answered the hard way”, not “born-here, knows-everything”. When local memory contradicts settler observation, local memory wins — and we say so.
